The Stratford Minor Basketball Association will hold their annual registration for the upcoming 2011-2012 season on the following dates;
- Friday September 10th - 6:00pm-8:00pm at Stratford Town Hall (Community Expo)
- Saturday September 11th - 9:00am - 11:00am at Stratford Town Hall (Community Expo)
- Saturday September 17th - 9:00am - 1:00pm at Stratford Town Hall (Island wide "Minor Basketball Registration Day")

UPEI Girls Hoop School
UPEI will once again be offering a Girls Hoop School (grades 5-10) every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00-8:00 PM from April 19 to May 26.

Stratford Foxes U14 Girls Tryouts
The first tryouts for the Stratford Foxes U14 (born 1997 or later) Girls basketball team will be held Monday, March 28th from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Stratford Town Hall and Wednesday, March 30th from 5:30-7:00 PM at Stonepark Intermediate (use side entrance). This team will compete with other U14 girls teams for a chance to represent PEI at the Eastern Canadian Championships in St John's NL, June 30-July 3rd.

The 2011 Mini Provincial Championships concluded on Sunday February 20th, with division 1, 2 and 3 boys and girls titles being decided.
Our Stratford Foxes teams did very well capturing the following medals;
Gold Medal - Division 2 Girls
Gold Medal - Division 3 Girls
Bronze Medal - Division 1 Boys

Jamboree Rules
- Each team will play 2 at least games
- Small Ball and Jr. Mini divisions will play 4 on 4 and consist of 8 / 4 minute periods.
- Mini and Bantam divisions will play 5 on 5 and consist of 12 / 4 minute periods.
- Equal playing time of all players is expected (Shift Tracker Sheets are provided)
- Each team will be given a couple of minutes to warm up before the game
- Please ensure that your team is present and ready to start the game.
- Half court defense applies for all divisions (except Bantam if within 15 points)
- No time outs
- No stop time
- Jump ball is awarded to the defensive team
- Count the hoop if fouled in the act of shooting (no foul shots)
- Back-over rule is not in effect (except Bantam)

We will be hosting our 7th Annual Jamboree on March 12th & 13th, 2011. Registration forms are available in MS-Word and PDF format.
House league teams from the following divisions are invited to attend:
- Small Ball (Born 2003-04)
- Junior Mini (Born 2001-02)
- Mini (Born 1999-00)
- Bantam (Born 1996-98)
We ask that Division 1 or 'A' Mini players and competitive Bantam aged players please refrain from participating.
The cost is $50 per team. Teams will be guaranteed at least two games. Please fill out the registration form and send or email it before the registration deadline of March 1, 2011.

Due to the upcoming Christmas concert schedule which occupies the gym at Glen Stewart school, some dates will need to be cancelled and arrangements have been made with Stratford Elementary School to temporarily move some of our programs. As a result, the following changes are required with our Minor Basketball program;
Cancelled -
Jr Mini Boys (House) - December 14
Mini Boys (Rep) - December 14
Moved to Stratford Elementary -
Small Ball & Jr Mini Girls (House) - December 11 & 18 - regular Saturday times
Mini Girls (Rep) - December 16th - 6:00pm - 7:15pm
In addition, all programs are suspended during the Holiday break effective December 23 to January 3rd inclusive.

Our season may be over but there are opportunities to play more basketball in the next few months. There are shooting clinics coming up sponsored by Basketball PEI and led by UPEI coaches; there is a UPEI Hoops School for Girls starting in April; the Charlottetown Tigers are hosting a Mini Boys Spring League.

We are pleased to announce that all of the Basketball nets at the Stratford Town Hall have been refitted with adjustable frames. This will allow us to adjust the height of each net according to the given age group. S.M.B.A. is very excited about this development and thanks the Stratford Recreation Commission for their involvement in this project.

What a weekend of basketball at the annual Stratford House League Jamboree!! A total of 25 teams participated from Souris, Southern Kings, Charlottetown, Cornwall, Stratford and Kensington. A big thank you to all who made this year's event a great success!

The Stratford Minor Basketball Association had a successful
'Hoop-a-thon' fundraiser in December. Over $2100 was raised.
Zachary Wall of the Jr. Mini Boys division was the lucky winner of the IPod. Zack also collected most money for the event. Thanks to all who participated and a special appreciation to Team Reddin Powersports for providing sponsorship for our t-shirts!

The annual Basketball PEI / ADL Awards were held November 10, 2009 and congratulations to two award recipients from the Stratford Foxes. The Mini Boys (U12) Player of the Year was awarded to Jack MacAulay and the Administrator Of The Year was given to Don Chevarie.
